Bespoke glasses: Professional optometry and personalised design

A professional programme combining eye tests, behavioural assessment and lens design

Isolani’s bespoke glasses are the result of a professional process that combines professional optometry, eye tests, behavioural centration, a simulation room and lens design. Each stage is carried out by optometrists and is based on the observation of everyday visual habits.

The eye test is a key part of theIsolani Experience™ and forms part of the process of creating bespoke glasses. It involves an optometric and functional assessment of vision that analyses visual comfort, eye strain and how vision is used in everyday life.

The Vision Check-up is not intended for diagnostic purposes and is not a substitute for an eye examination. It is a complementary service that helps identify the optical solution best suited to the individual’s needs, whilst fully respecting the respective professional roles.

Professional optometry: at the heart of the Isolani method

For Isolani, professional optometry means designing every pair of glasses as a true Bespoke glasses. It is not just a matter of testing eyesight, but of understanding how a person actually uses their vision in everyday activities.

Professional optometry combines a vision check-up, behavioural centration and a simulation room, creating a process that enables the most suitable optical solution to be identified, whilst fully respecting the respective professional roles.

This approach is not intended for diagnostic purposes and does not replace an eye examination: it is a complementary tool that enables us to design truly personalised glasses.

Why bespoke glasses are different from standard glasses

Everyone uses their eyesight in a unique way: working distance, posture, head movements, use of digital devices, and aesthetic and functional requirements. Standard spectacles do not take these variables into account.

Isolani bespoke spectacles are designed to reflect actual visual behaviour, integrating the frame, lenses and centre alignment into a single, coherent solution.

The stages of the bespoke eyewear process

1. Eye test

The Vision Check-up assesses how a person uses their eyesight in everyday activities: working at a computer, driving, reading, sport and outdoor activities. It is the starting point for designing a truly personalised solution.

2. Behavioural Alignment

The Behavioural Alignment It detects the actual position of the gaze, posture and working distance. It is not a static alignment, but a dynamic analysis of visual behaviour.

3. Simulation Room

In the Simulation Room It is possible to try out the lenses in real-life conditions before they are finally produced. This allows you to assess sharpness, contrast and visual comfort.

4. Choosing a frame

The frame is chosen on the basis of:
• aesthetic requirements
• facial proportions
• materials
• stability and comfort
• compatibility with lens design
• activities carried out during the day

The frame is not merely an aesthetic feature: it is an integral part of the design, as it must work in harmony with the lenses and the wearer’s actual visual behaviour.

5. Lens design

Lenses are designed to suit the wearer’s refractive error, visual habits and choice of frames. For more information on materials and technologies, please refer to the glossary Ophthalmic Lenses.

Where necessary, specific treatments such as the Anti-reflective coating.

6. Making the glasses

Once the lenses have been designed, they are manufactured and fitted to the chosen frame, in accordance with the measurements taken during the consultation.

7. Handover and final acceptance testing

Delivery includes a dedicated fitting session. The optometrist checks that the frames are correctly adjusted, that the lenses perform as intended, and that the wearer experiences comfort and visual stability.

The final testing confirms that each stage — professional optometry, eye check-up, behavioural centration, simulation room and design — has delivered the expected result.

When bespoke glasses make all the difference

Isolani bespoke glasses support you in your daily activities: working at a computer, driving, reading, sport and outdoor activities. This process enables you to achieve a visual solution that is consistent with your habits and your actual visual behaviour.

This method is particularly useful when there are specific requirements relating to short-sightedness, astigmatism o presbyopia, whilst always fully respecting the remit of the optician–optometrist.

An integrated programme within the Isolani Experience™

Bespoke glasses are not a stand-alone service, but part of the Isolani method. They complement:

Behavioural Alignment
Simulation Room
Ophthalmic Lenses
Advanced Contact Lens Practice

This ensures consistency, precision and a truly personalised visual result.
