Near and far
Without correction, a short-sighted person can see clearly up to a certain distance and finds that distant objects appear progressively more blurred. However, the severity of the condition, age and the presence of other refractive factors influence the individual’s experience: diagnosis and prescription are the responsibility of the ophthalmologist.
How it is corrected
The prescription can be fulfilled using spectacle lenses or, where suitable for the individual, contact lenses. Lenses for myopia have a negative power and bring the focal point back to the intended position. The material, refractive index, geometry, coatings and frame must be selected on the basis of the actual prescription, not merely the number of dioptres.

Myopia in children
During childhood, myopia may progress. There are optical technologies designed to slow its progression, but the process always begins with an assessment and prescription from an ophthalmologist. Isolani fulfils the prescription and handles frame compatibility, centring, fitting, adjustment and aftercare. The guide Progressive myopia in children explores the method in depth.
The Isolani technical approach
Even with the same prescription, two pairs of glasses can offer different experiences. The Behavioural Centring It detects the position of the lenses in relation to the line of sight, the frame and the wearer’s actual posture. In our laboratories, we complete the fitting and check the fit and stability of the glasses over time.
