Skin tone depends on the percentage of:
- carotene: yellow/orange pigmentation
- melanin: brown pigmentation
- haemoglobin: red pigmentation
Enhancing colours, which are in harmony with our natural tones, reflect and radiate outwards, making us look brighter and more radiant. Non-enhancing colours, by contrast, are absorbed by the face and emphasise irregularities.
Colours have a "temperature" and are divided into:
- Warm: red, yellow, orange (associated with sunlight and warmth)
- Cool: blue, ice, indigo (evoking snow, sea and sky)
