Binocular Vision
Binocular Vision is the coordinated work of the two eyes and the brain to create a single perception of the environment. It contributes to the stability of gaze and, when the necessary conditions are met, to the perception of depth.
How a unique perception comes about
Each eye views the scene from a slightly different angle. The visual system integrates the two images through alignment, coordinated movements and fusion. The stereopsis It is one of the cues that contribute to three-dimensional perception, but it is not the only way in which we judge distances and depth.
Near, far and movement
When looking from a distance to close up, both the focus and the position of the eyes change. Accommodation e convergence work together, whilst posture, working distance and optical correction influence comfort during everyday activities.
When further information is needed
Persistent problems, double vision, new symptoms or a sudden change require assessment by an ophthalmologist. Terms such as heterophoria They describe specific aspects of binocular balance, but do not enable a diagnosis to be made simply by reading an online page.
The role of spectacles
A properly carried out and correctly centred adjustment must comply with the prescription and the way in which the person actually wears their glasses.
