From prescription to everyday life: a guide to choosing, trying out and adapting to multifocal lenses over time
A progressive lens, an office lens or a photochromic solution are not three interchangeable options. Each is designed for different distances and situations; what they have in common is the way they are integrated into a person’s everyday life.
This page is not a substitute for the A comprehensive guide to varifocals and does not repeat the technical definition given in the Optical Glossary. Instead, it describes the Isolani process: from the optometrist’s prescription to the choice of frames, from the fitting to the lens alignment, right through to after-sales support.

Behavioural Alignment
Observe how the person actually looks: their posture, their usual distances, their movements and the natural position of their head.

It allows you to compare and test how the solutions perform in a real-world setting before making a choice. It is a practical simulation, not the final word.

Adaptation and testing
Fitting, alignment and geometry are all checked together, whilst the glasses are actually being worn, to ensure that the design continues to perform well in everyday use.
The guarantee also covers any modifications
In practical terms, this is our guarantee of a good fit; in the Isolani Service Charter it’s called Total Guarantee of Functional Performance. If the result does not match the design and the expectations agreed upon, the process continues with checks, adjustments and, where necessary, modification or replacement of the optical solution until full satisfaction is achieved.
The Mini-Kasko It fulfils a different yet complementary role: it protects the glasses in the event of theft, loss, breakage or accidental damage, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Service Charter. Visual outcome and product protection thus remain two distinct but coordinated forms of cover.

Office glasses are designed for near and intermediate distances. They do not automatically replace varifocals: they are tailored to a specific workstation and specific working distances.

They can also be produced in a wide range of progressive designs. However, transition times, use in cars, colour and tint level must be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

As we get back into the swing of things, it’s a good time to have your eyes checked by an optician and, based on your prescription (if you have one), review your frames, lenses and habits. The ‘Back to School’ programme is also available for children.

Where does the Isolani multi-focus trail start?
Based on the optician’s prescription, where applicable, and an analysis of distances and daily activities. The frame, geometry and measurements are then designed as integral parts of the same pair of spectacles.
In the Simulation Room, will I be able to try out exactly the lens I’m going to buy?
The Simulation Room allows for a practical comparison of optical behaviour and distances in a real-world setting. It does not replace the final lens, which is manufactured according to the prescription, the frame and the wearer’s personal parameters.
What happens if the adaptation doesn’t feel natural?
The process continues with checks on tyre fit, wheel alignment and measurements. Where necessary, the Total Functionality Guarantee provides for the modification or replacement of the solution in accordance with the Isolani Service Charter.
Can the course include more than one pair of glasses?
Yes. A progressive lens can be worn throughout the day, whilst an office lens can provide more clarity for near and intermediate distances during prolonged periods of work. The photochromic function can also be assessed based on light conditions and actual use.
