Oakley

Born for challenges

Not everyone may suspect that the name Oakley comes from the name of a dog: the English setter of James Jannard, the founder of the brand.

The company was born in 1975 on the impulse of Jannard who, with an initial investment of just $300, started the brand in his garage at home. To this day, Oakley is the most celebrated sunglasses brand among professional and amateur sportsmen ever.

Jenner's philosophy of success was very simple: "You can only succeed if you believe in what you do and if you strive to do it better than you can imagine."

Jannard started by selling what he called 'The Oakley Grip' (literally 'motorbike grips') from the back of his car during motocross races. His grips were different from the others because they used a material known as Unobtanium, a creation of Jannard himself. Today, this material is still used to make earsocks on glasses and nose pads
