The Levenhuk Fatum Z500 monocular thermal imager is an instrument that strikes the perfect balance between performance and reliability. It can be used for outdoor activities such as night-time surveillance, search and rescue operations, hunting, forestry, hiking and sport. Designed to be compact and easy to carry, it fits comfortably in one hand and can be used even in the worst weather conditions.
Observations can be made at magnifications ranging from 1.7x to 6.8x, with a smooth digital zoom that offers great freedom of observation. The microbolometer sensor has a resolution of 400×300 pixels and a total of six colour palettes available. It features an automatic hotspot detection function.
In terms of detection and identification range, this monocular thermal imager offers excellent performance. Larger objects, such as cars, can be detected from as far as 1,700 metres away, whilst typical hunting targets (wild boar, deer, etc.) can be detected from 450–590 metres. The target can also be illuminated by a laser designator, whose operating range is limited to 200 m.
The power source is a non-removable unit comprising two rechargeable batteries, with a total capacity of 6,000 mAh. As a result, the monocular thermal imager has a battery life of up to 5 hours at full capacity. Other design features include a tripod mount (with a 1/4” thread) and a water-resistant body (IP66 rating).
The monocular thermal imager is equipped with a built-in recorder; footage is stored in the device’s memory (16 GB). In addition, it features a rangefinder for measuring the distance to various objects. This function proves particularly useful whilst camping and hunting. It features an HDMI port, a USB Type-C port, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity for pairing with external devices. The monocular thermal imager supports the TargetIR mobile app, which can be used to adjust settings, organise photos and videos, or view images in real time on a smartphone screen, allowing them to be shared with several people at once.
