The Levenhuk Nelson 8x42 monocular will be a faithful companion for the detailed study of distant objects, whether calculating their distance or determining their direction. This optical instrument features a built-in rangefinder and compass. It is the perfect tool for fishing enthusiasts or those who enjoy sea excursions.
You can see the instrument’s dials through the eyepieces. All calculations are carried out manually based on visual readings. You can calculate the distance to objects with a known dimension (height) using the rangefinder’s readings and a formula. Alternatively, if you know the size of an object, you can calculate the distance to it.
The compass has a division value of 1°. The instrument indicates the direction towards the object in degrees. North is at 360°, south is at 180°, east is at 90° and west is at 270°. The compass has no backlight, so natural light is required for observations.
This lightweight and compact instrument offers 8x magnification and a 42 mm objective lens. The monocular, with a wide field of view (120 m at a distance of 1,000 m), allows for comfortable observation of large objects.
The optical elements are made from BaK-4 glass. The fully multi-coated lenses provide a bright and sharp image. The dioptre adjustment on the eyepiece can be customised over a wide range.
The waterproof body is made of sturdy yet lightweight plastic. The nitrogen-filled design prevents the lenses from misting up during sudden temperature changes.
We recommend using this monocular with the Levenhuk FS10 floating strap when near water, as this brightly coloured accessory will prevent the instrument from sinking and getting lost.
