The Levenhuk ZOOM 1B microscope is an instrument capable of a long working distance. It proves useful for studying geological samples, jewellery, biological specimens, fabrics, circuit boards and small mechanisms. This microscope can also be used for both hobbyist and professional purposes, such as in workshops or watchmaking laboratories.
In terms of design, the microscope consists of a base, a vertical stand and an optical head. Observations can be made with both eyes; the head is slightly tilted and can be rotated through 360°. The kit includes two wide-field eyepieces with 10x magnification. The optical system is complemented by a zoom objective, which allows the microscope’s magnification to be adjusted continuously rather than in discrete steps. The total magnification range varies from a factor of 7 to a factor of 45. Coarse focusing is available.
The microscope is fitted with two light sources: two LED lights, one above and one below. This allows for the examination of specimens of any degree of transparency. Brightness adjustment makes it easier to select the optimum lighting level for examining each specimen. The light is powered by the AC mains supply.
The microscope body is made of metal, making it durable and robust.
