Nuance Audio Plus: what’s new in the latest generation

Seeing and hearing, all through the same pair of glasses

Longer battery life, a richer listening experience, new controls and a wider choice of styles and colours: experience the evolution of hearing aids in real life.

Can a pair of glasses correct your eyesight and, at the same time, help you follow a conversation more easily? Nuance Audio has turned this question into a new category: an air-conduction hearing aid integrated into the frame, featuring directional microphones and open-ear speakers that do not block the ear canal.

With Nuance Audio Plus The project is now entering its second generation. It’s not just the design that’s changed: audio performance, battery life and controls have all been improved, whilst three different shapes and a wider range of colours allow the glasses to be tailored more closely to the wearer’s face and style.

First of all: what is Nuance Audio Plus?

Nuance Audio Plus is designed for adults with mild to moderate perceived hearing loss. Sound is picked up by microphones built into the frame, processed and played back through discreet speakers near the ears. The settings can be customised by the user via the controls on the glasses, the remote control or the app.

It is a medical device and not just a pair of glasses with Bluetooth speakers. At the same time, it does not require any preliminary hearing aid programming: the trial is designed to help you assess, in real-life situations, whether the type of support provided meets your needs. If you have any concerns about your hearing health or specific symptoms, you should consult a specialist.

More advanced audio

The new generation offers more powerful amplification, greater clarity in noisy environments and a more natural perception of one’s own voice.

Up to 10 hours

The stated battery life is up to approximately 10 hours, depending on the settings, intensity of use and operating conditions.

More intuitive controls

A dedicated switch controls the power on and off, whilst the buttons on the arms allow you to adjust the volume directly.

Calls made with an iPhone

A double-tap allows you to answer and end calls hands-free on compatible iPhones running iOS 16 or later.

Three forms, because there is no single face

The first generation focused primarily on the Square and Panthos models. Nuance Audio Plus adds Upturn, a more elevated and feminine silhouette, and expands the colour range to include Amber and Olive Green alongside Glossy Black, Vibrant Bordeaux and Deep Blue.

This is no minor detail. In a product that combines visual function with hearing support, the shape, size, fit across the nose and stability of the arms must all work in harmony. The glasses must remain in their intended position during normal daily activities, without compromising the wearer’s personal style.

The lenses remain part of the project

Nuance Audio Plus can be fitted with clear or Transitions® photochromic lenses and, where required, with prescription lenses. Single-vision, progressive, lens materials and coatings are not selected separately from the frame: prescription, visual habits, posture and viewing distances continue to guide the optical design.

This is where technology meets the Isolani method. In our Opticians’ Centres, the hearing test is combined with an assessment of the fit and the design of the lenses, because an advanced device only truly demonstrates its value when it is tailored to the individual.

You realise the difference when you try them

A technical specification sheet can provide details of power, battery life and features. However, it cannot convey a conversation at a table, the noise of a crowded room or the sound of one’s own voice. That is why in the Isolani Opticians The fitting process starts with real-life situations: listening to the person in front of you, adjusting the settings, regulating the volume and checking together that the glasses are comfortable to wear, the sound is clear and the frames are stable.

The new generation offers improved audio performance, longer battery life, simpler direct controls, hands-free calling with compatible iPhones and a wider choice of shapes and colours.

How long does the battery last?

The stated battery life is up to approximately 10 hours. Actual battery life may vary depending on settings, usage intensity, calls and operating conditions.

Yes. The frame can accommodate a range of optical options, including prescription lenses, progressive lenses and photochromic lenses, all of which can be tailored to the individual’s prescription and requirements.

Do I need to try it to see if it’s right for me?

A trial is the most practical way to assess their usefulness and comfort. It allows you to try them out in different situations, adjust the settings and, at the same time, check the fit of the frames and the visual design.
