Low Vision

What is low vision?

Low vision is a condition of the visual system caused by a significant reduction in visual acuity or visual field, or both. This condition is linked to age and the presence of medical conditions diagnosed by an ophthalmologist. The exponential rise in age-related eye problems is increasing the number of people with partial residual vision

A reduction in visual acuity and/or visual field is often accompanied by a reduction in contrast sensitivity, which can also be improved through the use of specific coloured filters

At the Isolani Optical Institute, specialist optometrists are on hand to provide information based on the prescription from the ophthalmologist. In the Simulation Room, you can try out all optical and electronic solutions – both corrective and protective – with no obligation. These solutions are capable of maintaining and enhancing residual visual function without compromising the independence essential for everyday activities (reading, writing, watching TV and using computer screens).

All Centri Ottici Isolani are ASL-approved and a reimbursement is available for those entitled to it.
