When does school start, when do lessons finish, and what breaks are scheduled in Liguria: all the key dates, along with a simple checklist to help prepare children’s glasses for the new term.
In Liguria, the first bell of the 2026/2027 school year will ring on Monday 14 September 2026. Lessons will end on Tuesday 8 June 2027, whilst activities at the nursery school will continue until Wednesday 30 June.
The calendar helps families organise the return to school, holidays and activities throughout the year. It is also a useful reminder to take a calm approach to something that is often put off until the last few days: checking that glasses are still secure, comfortable and suitable for children and teenagers’ everyday lives.

In addition to regional holidays, there are national holidays and any patron saint’s day celebrations. The calendar also provides for the suspension of lessons on 7 December 2026, following on from the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
An important clarification: Each school may adjust the calendar by up to three additional days, whilst ensuring that the minimum number of school days is met. Before making any travel plans or other arrangements, it is therefore advisable to check the notices issued by your school.

Before the first bell rings: a quick checklist for your glasses
Fit and stability
The frames should not slip down the nose, tilt or cause pressure points. As children grow, even glasses that are still in good condition may need to be readjusted.
Lenses and frames
Screws, temples, rims and lenses should be checked thoroughly. Minor marks or looseness, if dealt with in good time, can often be resolved with a simple repair.
Ophthalmologist’s prescription
If you have an eye test coming up or have been prescribed new lenses, it’s best not to leave it until the last few days: that way, you’ll have more time to have your glasses made and get used to them at your own pace.
