Thinner, more comfortable and with an extra hour’s battery life: the new Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 brings artificial intelligence to three truly iconic designs.
There is a key difference between hiding technology and making it look natural. With the new Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, unveiled on 23 September at Meta Connect 2026, Ray-Ban and EssilorLuxottica have chosen the latter approach: a more discreet camera, slimmer temples and three designs that look like they were created as sunglasses first and foremost, rather than as a device.
The result is not a sensational revolution, but a practical evolution. The 12 MP camera, 3K video, open-ear audio and Meta AI remain; battery life, sound quality, controls and fit have been improved. And, most importantly, the Aviator and Zena models make their debut, alongside the timeless Wayfarer.
What’s really new in the third generation
Up to 9 hours’ battery life
An extra hour compared to Gen 2, according to official figures. Actual battery life naturally varies depending on features and usage intensity.
Six microphones
The new system reduces reported background noise by over 90 per cent, for clearer calls and voice commands even outdoors.
A more discreet camera
The camera and LED cut-out is 36% smaller, whilst retaining a 12 MP camera and 3K video recording.
A customisable button
The new action button can be configured via the Meta AI app to launch your favourite feature more quickly.
Aviator, Zena and Wayfarer: technology finally takes on a new form
The most fascinating comeback is the Aviator, which, on its 90th anniversary, joins the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 family for the first time, including in a Limited Edition with vintage-inspired details. The new Zena, meanwhile, brings the technology to a bold and more feminine cat-eye frame. The Wayfarer remains the link to previous generations, but with slimmer proportions and professionally adjustable temples.
In total, the collection comprises 27 combinations of frames and lenses. Clear, sunglasses, polarised and Transitions® options are available, with availability varying by model and colour.

It’s a useful distinction: the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 remain glasses without a display. You can listen, take photos, record and interact with Meta AI, but no visual interface appears on the lens.

A technical specification sheet details the battery, memory and resolution. What are the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 models?
The first collection includes the Wayfarer, Aviator and Zena, available in a total of 27 frame and lens combinations. A Limited Edition of the Aviator is also planned.
How long does the battery last?
Meta claims up to 9 hours of use on a single charge, about an hour longer than the Gen 2. Actual battery life depends on the features used, the settings and operating conditions.
Do the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 models have a display?
No. The Gen 3 models do not project images or information onto the lens. The camera, open-ear audio and Meta AI all work without a screen in front of your eyes. Meta Ray-Ban Display is a different range.
Are they available with prescription lenses?
Yes. Ray-Ban states that they are compatible with both prescription and non-prescription lenses. The actual options depend on your prescription, the frame and the chosen configuration, and should be checked by a professional.
Where can I see the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 at Isolani?

What’s different compared to the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2?
The design is sleeker, the claimed battery life has increased to 9 hours, the number of microphones has risen from five to six, the camera and LED aperture is smaller, and there is now a configurable action button. The Aviator and Zena styles have also been added.
Is the LED light still visible when recording?
Yes. The built-in LED continues to alert people nearby when photos are taken or videos are being recorded, even though the aperture has been made more discreet.
