Why ‘Jacket’ has become part of the Oakley lexicon
In Jacket sunglasses, the front frame tends to sit closer to the face, the lines flow towards the temples, and the frame conveys a sense of movement even when simply worn around town. It is an aesthetic born in the world of performance, but which has, over time, become part of Oakley’s visual culture.
The return of these shapes is not an identical reissue of the past. The new generation draws on that DNA and applies it to more lifestyle-oriented frames, more technical models and designs that vary in width, fit and lens type. This is precisely where it’s worth looking beyond the name.

Straight Jacket
This is the most immediate historical reference: compact, wraparound and very Oakley. It has a strong identity, now sought after even by those drawn to the design of the early 2000s.

It’s one of the most recognisable reinterpretations from the Oakley archive. It retains a compact, muscular shape, but today it’s also a style statement. It’s the model that best illustrates how the line between technical eyewear and fashion has become much blurrier.

Prizm, polarised or photochromic: colour isn’t the whole story
In the Jacket range, the lens plays a major role in the look, but it’s not just a matter of colour choice. Prizm versions are designed to enhance colours and contrasts; a polarised lens can be useful when glare from roads, water or shiny surfaces is a key concern; a photochromic lens adjusts its properties as light levels change.

Wrap-around frames need to be tried on
Two Jacket models may look similar in photographs but appear very different when worn. They differ in width, curvature, bridge, temple position and how they sit against the cheekbones and eyebrows. This is why fit and comfort are not minor details.

Are Prizm or polarised lenses better?

How do I choose the right size?
