The Levenhuk LabZZ tellurium is a model for observing the rotation of the Earth and the Moon around the Sun. This simple device will help children quickly understand what causes day and night, the seasons, and why a year consists of twelve months. The tellurium will be a great aid in teaching astronomy and geography lessons, or for astronomy club meetings. This tabletop model illustrates the seasons and the changing phases of the Moon, as well as the nature of solar eclipses.
Before using the tellurium, place it on a stable, flat surface. The tellurium is secured to a stand with a special screw. Turn the Earth’s globe anti-clockwise round the Sun by turning a small crank. The mechanism will begin to turn and the Moon will start to orbit the Earth rapidly. Whilst the Earth orbits the Sun once, the Moon orbits the Earth 12 times, corresponding to the 12 months of the year.
The model of the Sun is fitted with internal lighting. The solar lamp is switched on using a button located beneath its base.
The model is made of durable, safe plastic. The Sun model has a diameter of 100 mm, the Earth has a diameter of 85 mm and the Moon has a diameter of 18 mm.
