We present the Discovery Basics EK90 kit, comprising a range of tools for exploration, observation and fun outdoor activities. Using it will make various nature-based games more educational and exciting. All the items in the kit are contained in a rucksack, included in the pack, making it very easy to take them with you whilst travelling by any means of transport or whilst out hiking.

You can use the binoculars to observe your surroundings as well as to study birds and animals. With a roof-prism optical design, these binoculars are quite compact and easy to use. The image produced is clear and high-contrast.

The hiking kit includes a compass with a folding cover, an LED head torch, a survival bracelet with a flint, a multi-function whistle and a dynamo torch. The liquid-filled compass with a north-pointing arrow is the best choice for hiking. It is fitted with a sighting slot with a sighting line to easily determine your position in the field. There are two torches: the headlamp is ideal for exploring caves and other dimly lit areas, as it leaves your hands free; the dynamo torch requires no batteries and is therefore a real ‘magic wand’ in emergencies. The flint survival bracelet is an interesting tool. It can be used to light a fire, but also as a spare cord: to make one, simply unroll the braided strap. The whistle is a three-in-one tool: it can be used to sound signals, but also as a compass and a thermometer.

For the most curious explorers, the most useful items in the kit will be the magnifying glass, the butterfly net and the tweezers. These can be used to catch and examine beetles, spiders and butterflies right there in the field.

Fans of outdoor games will be delighted to find two multi-channel walkie-talkies included. They can communicate over a distance of up to 3 km and respond to voice commands. These are fully-fledged walkie-talkies, featuring automatic noise cancellation and radio frequency monitoring. These walkie-talkies are powered by standard batteries.
