The Discovery Channel informs, entertains and inspires its audience around the world about the wonders of our planet, its diversity and its surprises. By offering millions of people the chance to make new discoveries and satisfy their curiosity, Discovery provides an engaging mix of storytelling across a range of genres: science and technology, exploration, adventure, history and a behind-the-scenes look at the people, places and organisations that shape the world we live in.
We are proud to present the Discovery range of optical instruments, manufactured by Levenhuk and sponsored by Discovery.
The Discovery Spark 506 AZ telescope with educational book is an achromatic refractor designed for beginners. It is an easy-to-use instrument. It is also ideal for taking your first steps into the world of astronomy and for observing the Moon. As well as its practical applications, this instrument allows you to expand your theoretical knowledge too! The telescope, in fact, comes with a colourful educational book about space. During the day, the telescope can easily be converted into a terrestrial telescope for studying natural landscapes and objects on the horizon.
The optics are made of glass, so the telescope produces clear and bright images. The achromatic optical design and the anti-reflective coating on the lenses improve image quality by minimising optical aberrations. A classic altazimuth mount is used to aim the telescope, which can be operated easily by users of any skill level. The mount is fitted to a sturdy, height-adjustable aluminium tripod. This allows every member of the family to find a comfortable position from which to observe the stars.
One of the Discovery Spark 506 AZ’s strengths is its extensive set of accessories. In addition to the telescope, the colourful gift box contains two eyepieces with different focal lengths, a 3x Barlow lens and other accessories. The illustrated educational book ‘Space: Not Empty After All’ will answer the many questions of any budding space explorer, providing interesting information about various celestial bodies.
