The Discovery Channel informs, entertains and inspires its audience around the world about the wonders of our planet, its diversity and its surprises. By offering millions of people the chance to make new discoveries and satisfy their curiosity, Discovery provides an engaging mix of storytelling across a range of genres: science and technology, exploration, adventure, history, and a behind-the-scenes look at the people, places and organisations that shape the world we live in.
We are proud to present the Discovery range of optical instruments, manufactured by Levenhuk and sponsored by Discovery.
The Discovery Sky Trip ST50 is an entry-level refracting telescope, perfect for a first introduction to outer space. You can use it to observe the Moon and the planets, as well as to zoom in on distant terrestrial objects by using it as a powerful spotting scope. When it comes to observing deep-sky objects, this telescope allows you to view the brightest celestial bodies. It is an easy-to-use telescope: its altazimuth mount allows you to move the tube up and down, and left and right.
The Discovery Sky Trip ST50 telescope comes with a range of accessories and the educational book ‘Space: Not an Empty Void’. Beginners can discover fascinating facts about stargazing and put what they’ve learnt into practice straight away. Eyepieces of various focal lengths and the Barlow lens allow you to experiment with magnification factors, whilst the optical finder helps you locate specific objects accurately in the night sky. The adjustable tripod adapts to the observer’s height.
One of the main advantages of this model is its ultra-compact optical tube: it is almost half the length of that found on many other refracting telescopes. Consequently, this telescope is easy to take with you on day trips. In addition, the kit includes a special rucksack designed for the comfortable transport of the telescope and all its accessories. A smartphone adapter allows you to try your hand at astrophotography, capturing snapshots of your exploration of outer space.
