The Discovery Micro is an entry-level biological microscope that allows you to observe transparent samples. These can include ready-made slides, the microcosm living in a drop of water, or slides prepared on the spot. The microscope is small and lightweight, making it portable. As a result, you can use it not only at home, but also take it with you on a day trip or to the countryside.
Optical
system
The magnification range varies from 40x to 640x, so it is not possible to observe bacteria or blood cells. However, this microscope allows you to view sections of animal and plant tissue, observe certain types of cells, as well as examine parts of insects and tiny organisms living in water. The microscope is fitted with three objective lenses (4x, 10x and 40x) and a two-position sliding eyepiece offering magnifications from 10x to 16x. The 45°-angled head makes prolonged observations more comfortable, and the focus can be adjusted manually using the coarse focus knobs. The microscope is easy to use, even for inexperienced users.
Adjustable
LED illumination system
Samples are placed on the stage, where they can be secured with two clamps. An LED light is located beneath the stage. Its use is recommended when natural light is insufficient. Thanks to its battery power supply (batteries not included), the illumination system can also be used away from a mains socket. The brightness of the light can be adjusted. Furthermore, the size of the light beam can be adjusted using the disc diaphragm.
An educational book on the microcosm
The microscope is sold together with the educational book *The Invisible World*. This colourful book will introduce young scientists to the microcosm. They will be able to read chapters on the history of microscopy, microorganisms and a variety of structures that can be seen under a microscope. The book not only presents interesting facts but also includes experiments that can be carried out at home.
