The Discovery Femto Polar is a classic monocular microscope that allows you to examine the microcosm in both reflected and transmitted light, with a magnification range of 40x to 400x. It can reveal the cellular structure of plants and insects, life in a drop of water, protozoa and much more. This microscope is an excellent aid for teachers wishing to conduct simple biology experiments directly in the classroom. In addition, a book packed with information on the microcosm is included. Reading it makes the experiments even more interesting and varied.

The achromatic optics allow samples to be viewed clearly and in detail. The instrument’s objective revolver is fitted with three objectives: 4x, 10x and 40x, with a spring-loaded mechanism. The wide-field eyepiece provides a clear view at 10x magnification. The monocular head has an ergonomic 45° tilt, making prolonged observations more comfortable. In addition, the head rotates 360° around the vertical axis, which is ideal for group experiments. There is no need to move the microscope to share the image with a research partner, as the head can be rotated as required. The instrument is fitted with separate knobs for macro and micrometric focusing, allowing for smooth adjustment of the resolution.

The illumination system consists of LED lights positioned above and below the stage, each with adjustable brightness. The lower light is modulated by a disc diaphragm, which helps to control its brightness. The microscope is powered by batteries (not included) or via the mains (AC adaptor included). The stage is fitted with clamps for securing slides.

The book entitled ‘The Invisible World’ is a fascinating addition to the microscope. It explores the microcosm and various scientific experiments. It is written in easy-to-understand language and contains brightly coloured illustrations. It recounts historical facts about the origins of microscopy and provides theoretical explanations of microorganisms, as well as experiments that can be carried out at home using the Discovery Femto Polar microscope.
