The Discovery Basics CN5 insect jar is a small jar with transparent walls, fitted with two magnifying lenses: one fixed to the lid and one that rotates on pins. You can easily and safely examine the tiny creatures of the world around us. The jar can hold an insect, a spider, a fly and even a fish: just don’t forget to fill it with water first, of course. Once the jar is closed, you can study the specimen from any angle. You can also place twigs, seaweed, minerals and many other inanimate objects inside the jar.

The lenses offer 3x and 8x magnification: the objects under study can therefore be observed at different magnifications. The jar is made of plastic, so there’s no risk of it breaking if accidentally dropped.
