FOCUS ON MYOPIA & PRESBYOPIA 2024

FOCUS: MYOPIA & PRESBYOPIA

The second edition of the event organised by Istituto Ottico Isolani, which this year focused on myopia and presbyopia, has come to a highly successful conclusion, in collaboration with Hoya, a world leader in the ophthalmic sector. The event, which was attended by over 100 ophthalmologists and orthoptists from hospitals across Liguria, took place on Wednesday 6 November at the splendid Villa Lo Zerbino, in the heart of Genoa.

The evening began with a welcome drink, during which the Chairwoman Laura Isolani and the Managing Directors Enrico and Elisabetta Gazzo welcomed the participants.

Following the introduction, the conference got into full swing with presentations by distinguished ophthalmologists: Dr Massimiliano Serafino, Director of the Ophthalmology Unit at the IRCCS G. Gaslini Institute in Genoa, and Professor Aldo Vagge, from the Genoa Eye Clinic. The two specialists presented an update on the topics covered at the previous conference, with a focus on the progression of myopia in children.

Subsequently, the second part of the event was devoted to presbyopia. Professor Michele Iester and Dr Angelo Macrì, ophthalmologists at the San Martino Polyclinic Hospital in Genoa, explored surgical solutions for the correction of presbyopia, in particular intraocular lenses, sparking a lively debate between the speakers and the audience.

The conference concluded with presentations by technicians from Istituto Ottico Isolani and Hoya, a world leader in the ophthalmic sector, who presented findings on managing the progression of myopia in children and the most advanced optical solutions for presbyopia. Among the topics covered were multifocal ophthalmic lenses and office lenses, right through to the latest innovations in the field of next-generation multifocal lenses.

The event once again confirmed Istituto Ottico Isolani’s role as the go-to technical partner for ophthalmologists not only in Genoa but throughout the whole of Liguria, consolidating its commitment to innovation and continuing professional development in the ophthalmic sector.
