TheDiscovery Channel informs, entertains and inspires its audiences around the world about the wonders of our planet, its diversity and its surprises. Offering millions of people the chance to make new discoveries and satisfy their curiosity, Discovery provides an engaging mix of narratives across multiple genres: science and technology, exploration, adventure, history and a behind-the-scenes look at the people, places and organisations that shape the world we live in.
We are proud to present the Discovery line of optical instruments, produced by Levenhuk and sponsored by Discovery.
The Discovery Sky T50 telescope is a refractor suitable for entry-level astronomical use. It requires no special set-up, as it is easy to operate and equipped with everything needed for observations, plus the book 'Space. Void not Void' is included. This telescope is ideal for observing terrestrial objects and the Moon. It is also possible to observe many celestial bodies in near space, but smaller details will not be visible. The telescope is enclosed in a colourful box with the brand name in view, making it perfect as a gift.
The telescope's strengths are evident from the very first use. Two eyepieces with different focal lengths and a Barlow lens make it possible to use the telescope at maximum useful magnification factor, and the diagonal mirror makes observations of terrestrial objects more practical. In addition, an optical finder helps the observer to precisely point the telescope towards the desired objects.
The AZ mount has a rotation knob, which is useful for pointing the telescope up or down, left or right. The tripod is made of aluminium alloy and its legs can be adjusted independently to create a stable support platform on almost any surface.
The educational book 'Space. Void not Void' is a pleasant and useful addition. Written in clear and evocative language, accompanied by vivid illustrations, the book describes a wide variety of astronomical objects: the Sun, planets and their satellites, meteors, comets, distant stars and much more. The book teaches readers the basics of astronomical observation and how to orient themselves in the starry sky. It also explains the structure of telescopes and how they work.
