Tax deduction Contact Lenses in Italy
In Italy the graduated contact lenses are tax deductible as they are among the medical and health care expenses for which you are entitled to a 19% Irpef deduction on the amount exceeding €129.11, pursuant to Article 15 of the TUIR (Testo unico delle imposte sui redditi - Testo Unico delle imposte sui redditi - D.P.R. del 22. December 1986 n. 917).
Which products are tax deductible:
- Graduated contact lenses
- Graduated Coloured Lenses
- Solutions for lens cleaning and preservation if purchased together with Graduated Contact Lenses.
They are not deductible, however:
- Non-graduated coloured lenses (i.e. for cosmetic use only)
- Collyriums
- Accessories (such as lens holders)
How should one proceed for the tax deduction?
It's very simple, just enter your tax code on our site during registration (or in your profile if already registered, but before purchasing). This way you will receive a talking receipt, just like in a pharmacy, ready for the deduction of medical and healthcare expenses.
All our articles are CE-marked medical devices and comply with European directives 93/42/EEC, 90/385/EEC and 98/79/EC.
We will send the data to the Inland Revenue Agency as required by the regulations, so you will find the expense in the following year's pre-filled tax return, but remember to file and attach the "talking receipt" containing your tax code and CE marking when making your tax return to take advantage of the tax relief.
